Great Stroke: Larsen Gets 5 Hits
|
Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Odin Larsen said his club's tilt with the Washington Nationals "felt almost like batting practice." The 22-year-old third baseman went a remarkable 5-for-5 at the plate.
"I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later.
However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Philadelphia Phillies, who were topped by the Nationals, 5-4.
"It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Phillies manager John Phillies said. "Sometimes Odin is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-5 and lose than go 0-for-5 and lose."
Odin Larsen singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year, Larsen is hitting .311 with 6 home runs.
