Royals Shut Out Marlins, 6-0
|
Kansas City Royals pitcher Jim Wamboldt was in top form, leading his team past the Miami Marlins, 6-0. The 4th-place Royals lifted their record to 74-81.
Ricky Rodriguez had a big run-scoring triple for the Royals in the bottom of the third inning. With Kansas City leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Tsukasa Yasuda, who is tied for 9th in the NL with a 1.17 WHIP, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 3rd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Royals ahead, 2-0.
Said losing manager Kris Abrams: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
