Tigers Win, 9-0, at Cleveland
|
Victor Castillo was instrumental in his team's 9-0 triumph over the Cleveland Guardians. The catcher was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Detroit Tigers. Detroit, now 75-80, holds down 4th place in the American League Central Division.
Tyler Snook had a big run-scoring double for the Tigers in the top of the third inning. With Detroit leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Luis Batts, who is tied for 6th in the AL with a 1.12 WHIP, and swatted a double to right. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Tigers ahead, 2-0.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Jeremy Ron.
