Twins Upend Royals, 5-2
|
Minnesota turned a good effort from starter James Hays into a win over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The Twins won the game, 5-2. The winner was Hays. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Willie Echeveste. Joe Lozano recorded the save, his 8th.
Marvin Crespo was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Minnesota. The 27-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Willie Echeveste. It was his 15th hit of the season.
"I think it speaks for itself, I think we came out and we played our kind of baseball," said Crespo.
Minnesota, now 74-77, holds down third place in the American League Central Division.
