Rockies Sneak By Giants, 3-2
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Colorado Rockies eventually prevailed.
The San Francisco Giants got a superb performance from pitcher Art Lane, but the Colorado Rockies still won the game, 3-2. Lane threw 6.1 innings allowing 1 run. Colorado reliever Jose Mejia picked up the win to move to 4-5. Jon Rasmussen suffered the loss. Daelan Burbage was credited with the save for Colorado, his 40th of the season.
Colorado used the timely hitting of Jose Sosa to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rockies on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough loss," said San Francisco manager Augustin Padilla. "But we'll rebound from it."
The first-place Rockies, at 77-70, now lead their division by 6½ games.
