Pirates Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Delgado
Runs were plentiful at PNC Park.

The Cincinnati Reds overcame a pretty good performance by Pittsburgh second baseman Edgar Delgado, beating the Pirates, 12-10, at PNC Park. Delgado went 4-4 with 3 doubles and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 3. Steve Riggs earned the save, his 27th in 34 tries.

Cincinnati needed the clutch hitting of Omer bin Abbas to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Reds on top, 11-10. For the game, bin Abbas had 1 home run and 3 singles in 5 at-bats.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said bin Abbas.

Cincinnati is now 85-61, 4 games up in the National League Central Division.
