Braves Pick Up 5-3 Win
|
The Atlanta Braves defeated the Washington Nationals, 5-3, at Truist Park. Leading the charge for Atlanta was third baseman Tony Turner. He went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jose Moreno, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 8-11. The victory puts Atlanta at 53-91.
The Braves got a big hit from shortstop Angel Soto. Facing Washington pitcher Chris Hahlen in the bottom of the sixth, Soto pounded a run-scoring double to left-center. His 13th double of the season put the Braves ahead, 5-3.
"You need to show up when your number's called," said Turner.
