Chicago designated hitter Ricky Rodriguez had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Rodriguez was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs, even as Cincinnati beat the Cubs, 6-5, in 10 innings. The win belonged to Jaden Agassi in relief. His record improves to 7-2. Jeff Lehman took the loss for Chicago. The first-place Reds lifted their record to 81-59.

The Reds got a clutch hit from right fielder Omer bin Abbas. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to right, to win the game for the Reds.

"This game will make a man of you," said Matt The 3rd, the Cincinnati skipper, "if it doesn't kill you first."
