Royals Need Extra Frames to Get Past Orioles
|
The performance of Cesar Contreras proved critical in helping Kansas City beat Baltimore, 7-4, in 11 innings. The Royals center fielder went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Kansas City reliever Numan bin Hakim was the winner. His record is now 3-5. The losing pitcher was Alex Salazar. Mario Meza collected save number 2.
Ian Gore came through with a big-time hit for Kansas City. The third baseman smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 7-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"The clubhouse vibe is great," said Kansas City manager William G.
The wins continue to add up for Kansas City. The latest makes it 8 in a row.
