Yankees Tagged with 8-2 Loss
|
The 8-2 Tampa Bay win over New York was due in large part to Sean Skahill. The Devil Rays first baseman was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jonathan Hall got the win, improving to 8-8. He held the Yankees to no runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. New York's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Julio Rocha had a big run-scoring double for the Devil Rays in the bottom of the third inning. With Tampa Bay leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Robby Wright, who finished 5th in the AL in batting average with .317 in 2035, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Devil Rays ahead, 2-0.
"Enjoyed this one," Skahill told the Tampa Bay Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
