Mets Tack 9-8 Loss on Phillies
|
In a high-scoring game between New York and Philadelphia, catcher Steve Ludwig was a difference-maker. The 29-year-old helped New York grab the 9-8 win. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. New York reliever Kenneth Barnett snagged the win, upping his record to 5-1. Randy D'Amour shouldered the loss. Picking up his 8th save was two-time All-Star Chris Graham.
With New York leading 7-6 in the top of the sixth, Ludwig hit a 2-run single off Philadelphia hurler Randy D'Amour. It was the 130th hit of the season for Ludwig and put his team ahead, 9-6.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Philadelphia manager John Phillies. "But we decided not to take it."
New York has a record of 55-71, placing them 4th in the National League East Division.
