Rockies Beat Angels, 5-3
|
The Colorado Rockies racked up a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim, bumping off the Los Angeles Angels, 5-3. Toki Maeda, who started for Colorado, pitched effectively for his team. Maeda picked up the win for Colorado, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 11-6. Daelan Burbage got the save, his 31st in 34 chances.
Chris Gutierrez had a big 2-run home run for the Rockies in the top of the sixth inning. With Colorado leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Chance Fitzgerald and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Rockies on top, 4-1.
Colorado manager Brandon ROX said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
Colorado is third in the National League West Division with a record of 55-58.
