The Washington Nationals defeated the Colorado Rockies, 14-1, at Colorado Field. Washington first baseman David Diouf had a superb performance. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Jose Colon got the win, improving to 13-5. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 4. The second-place Nationals improved to 55-57.

Danny Lopez had a big run-scoring double for the Nationals in the top of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a circle change from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Michael Smith and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nationals ahead, 2-0.

Colorado manager Brandon ROX said: "The beauty of this game is games like this only count as one loss."
