Astros Suffer 3-2 Loss to Seattle
|
Olivia Richardson, who leads the AL in strikeouts with 201, was locked in. The right-hander led the Seattle Mariners to a 3-2 win against the Houston Astros at T-Mobile Park. Richardson got the win, improving to 17-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 4 over 5.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Jordan Motley earned the save for Seattle, his 15th of the year.
Juan Pirtle had a big 2-run home run for the Mariners in the bottom of the third inning. With Seattle leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a slider from Jesus Valentin, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Mariners on top, 3-0.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Richardson told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
Seattle is now 63-47, 2½ games up in the American League West Division.
