Cleveland Beats Texas, 4-1
|
Ben Palen, who finished 5th in the AL in strikeouts with 248 in 2037, was terrific for the Cleveland Guardians in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Texas Rangers. His performance earned Palen rave reviews. Palen yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 7-2. Cleveland, at 40-36, is 2½ games up in the American League Central Division.
Cleveland used the hitting of Nate Melancon to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Guardians on top, 4-1. For the game, Melancon had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Melancon said after the game.
