Rangers Edge Blue Jays, 3-2
|
The Texas Rangers beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 3-2. Texas pitcher and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, native Dave Lulay led the way. Lulay yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 6-6. Elijah Haugabook earned the save for Texas, his 15th.
The Rangers got a big at-bat from first baseman Jose Monreal. For the game, Monreal went 1-4 with a double. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 12th double of the season gave Texas a 3-2 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Monreal, "and today was a good one for us."
The victory puts Texas at 26-42.
