Red Sox Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Worcester Red Sox have edged the Buffalo Bisons.

The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Round 1, with a 6-2 win in the clincher being the difference for Worcester and giving them the ticket to the Round 2 with a 3-2 series triumph.

"We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Manny Avila, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Avila hit .438 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Worcester Red Sox will play against the Nashville Sounds in the next round. Nashville won their series against the Memphis Redbirds 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
